My golliwogs are formed from hand-sewn leather and measure between 3/4” and 1 1/4” in height. They have painted faces, stitched hair and leather shoes with separate uppers and soles. Girl gollies are dressed in knitted cotton
dresses and panties - with raffia baskets of luggage. Some have an invitation
to visit or go to the seaside but several are planning an elopement. Boy gollies also have a small neatly packed wardrobe of knitted clothing because they are also preparing for an
elopement. A love letter in their luggage matches them to their intended
partner.
My miniature gollies quickly form their own
personality as they are being created and firmly dictate how they should be
dressed and finished. Golliwogs are a delight to make and they are always a
surprise on completion.
